Planning - Schedule #59

 Schedule

Hello, the blog is  about  the schedule for the filming days that me and my group will try to follow That is the plan. Last time I was part of the process of creating schedule for the production of a film I was in AS level media studies. Now I am in A level I understand that for recording you do not need a lot of days  and also it is very difficult for everyone to meet in a place for recording because sometimes no one can drive them there or the locations is to far, and sometimes things just happens as and we can not meet for recording.

The schedule is really simple. The schedule was done in order for us to record during the weekend as recording in between the week would be difficult with things such as activities after school and homework since my group is made of two junior and one senior we receive a lot of work from our other classes also Madison has a job and often works after school. Although me and Rafa we just have after school activities.

We plan to recorded on January 3, 11, and 24. January 3 and 11 both are on a Saturday and the recording day of January 24 is on a Sunday which are days that we can all meet up to record.

In conclusion, we will try to follow the schedule as best as we can and If  anything happens because not all of us can meet up we can adjust the schedule or replanned it if necessary as things can happen that we can not control.

Research - Campaigns on mental health #58

Campaigns On Mental Health

In 2025, mental health awareness continued to grow as a global priority, reflected in a wide variety of public campaigns that aimed to educate communities, reduce stigma, and encourage individuals to seek support when needed. The following overview explores ten of the most impactful initiatives from the year, demonstrating different strategies and achievements in mental health advocacy.

Mental health awareness campaigns serve several key roles in society. At their core, they aim to educate the public about mental health conditions, increase knowledge of common struggles such as anxiety and depression, and promote understanding and empathy. This education is vital because it allows individuals to recognize signs of distress in themselves and others. Additionally, campaigns work to reduce stigma. In many cultures, talking openly about mental health remains difficult, and stigma can prevent people from seeking help. Campaigns challenge those norms by creating safe spaces for dialogue and normalizing conversations about emotions. Finally, these initiatives promote early intervention and access to support services, which can lead to improved outcomes for those affected.

#BreakTheSilence

One of the most influential initiatives of 2025 was the #BreakTheSilence campaign. Geared especially toward adolescents and young adults, this campaign tackled stigma around mental health conversations among younger populations—a group often under intense social pressure. By encouraging participants to share personal experiences on platforms like Instagram and TikTok, the campaign built a supportive community online. It also hosted webinars and workshops featuring mental health professionals, providing practical self-care strategies. Surveys showed that the campaign contributed to an increase in young people seeking mental health support, highlighting how social engagement can lead to meaningful change.

Mindful Month

Another major initiative was Mindful Month, which emphasized the value of mindfulness practices for everyday mental well-being. Targeting both workplaces and educational settings, Mindful Month encouraged people to participate in daily mindfulness challenges through a dedicated app. Participants engaged in activities such as meditation, mindful breathing, and daily reflection, making mental wellness a regular part of their routines. The campaign also featured guided sessions with mindfulness experts, explaining how these practices can help reduce stress and support overall emotional health. Feedback collected after the campaign indicated reduced anxiety levels and increased feelings of life satisfaction among participants.

#FindYourStrength

The #FindYourStrength campaign focused on resilience—helping individuals recognize their personal strengths when navigating mental health challenges. By encouraging people to share their stories of perseverance and highlighting different coping mechanisms, the campaign empowered participants to take proactive steps in managing their mental well-being. Workshops supported the development of self-awareness and resilience, equipping people with practical tools to face emotional difficulties. Participants often expressed a greater sense of confidence in their ability to cope following involvement in the campaign activities.

#MentalHealthMatters

The #MentalHealthMatters initiative took a broad approach, emphasizing that mental health is important in all areas of life—personal, professional, and communal. The campaign leveraged traditional media such as television and radio alongside community events, inviting families and diverse audiences to engage in conversation and information sessions. By connecting with local organizations and hosting workshops, #MentalHealthMatters fostered cross-generational dialogue and encouraged community members to learn about and discuss mental health together. Many participants reported that the campaign improved their understanding of mental health resources in their communities.

#TalkAboutIt

The #TalkAboutIt campaign centered on the importance of open dialogue. It created spaces where people could share their experiences with mental health in supportive environments, both in person and online. Storytelling events allowed individuals to speak about their personal journeys, helping others to feel less alone and more willing to talk about their own emotional struggles. Social media activities using the campaign hashtag provided additional platforms for shared experiences and encouraged informal discussion among followers. Surveys after the campaign indicated that people felt more comfortable discussing mental health openly, signaling progress toward reducing stigma.

Hope Initiative

The Hope Initiative specifically addressed the mental health needs of marginalized communities—populations that often face barriers to accessing traditional mental health care. By offering tailored resources in multiple languages and nurturing peer support networks, the campaign made mental health support more accessible and culturally appropriate. Participants reported feeling more understood and supported, highlighting the importance of inclusive approaches in mental health advocacy.

The Art of Healing

Recognizing that healing can take many forms, The Art of Healing campaign explored the therapeutic benefits of creative expression. Through free art workshops and public exhibits showcasing participant artwork, the initiative encouraged people to use creative outlets like painting, writing, and music to process emotions. Many participants described artistic activities as a form of emotional relief, demonstrating how art can complement traditional mental health support practices.

#HealthyMindHealthyLife

The #HealthyMindHealthyLife campaign advocated for holistic mental well-being by highlighting connections between physical health, nutrition, and emotional wellness. The campaign featured nutrition workshops led by dietitians working alongside mental health professionals, as well as community fitness challenges designed to promote both physical activity and mental health awareness. Participants often shared personal progress on social media, helping to build an online community focused on comprehensive wellness.

#StrongerTogether

Focusing on community solidarity, the #StrongerTogether campaign brought people together to support one another in facing mental health challenges. Community events encouraged story sharing and created connections between individuals and local support resources. The campaign helped strengthen local support networks, encouraging sustained interaction and collective support beyond the campaign period.

#EmpowerYourMind

Finally, the #EmpowerYourMind campaign aimed to equip people with knowledge and tools to advocate for their own mental health needs. Educational materials included articles and videos explaining treatment options, self-care practices, and rights related to mental health care access. Participants also attended advocacy training sessions, helping them learn how to navigate healthcare systems effectively. This campaign contributed to increased confidence among participants in seeking help and understanding their rights.

These mental health awareness campaigns from 2025 demonstrate the variety of approaches organizations and communities can take to address emotional well-being. From social media engagement and storytelling to mindfulness practices and community solidarity, each initiative played a role in increasing understanding, reducing stigma, and supporting individuals in seeking help. Collectively, they highlight the power of advocacy and shared effort in promoting mental health awareness and compassion across diverse populations

Research- Industry Data# 58

Industry Data

Hello, today ,I examined industry data from trusted sources such as Statista, and Motion Picture Association to better understand audience behavior, genre popularity, and viewing habits. The charts and graphs I analyzed revealed clear patterns in how different age groups consume film content, which platforms they prefer, and which genres perform best. According to industry reports, younger audiences particularly those aged 16–24 show a strong preference for streaming services and frequently discover new films through social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram . Meanwhile, older demographics continue to engage more with traditional cinema releases and long-form content. I also looked at specific data regarding genre interest. Drama consistently appears as one of the most-watched genres across multiple age groups, especially among young adults, who tend to gravitate toward emotional, character-driven storytelling. This supports the idea that the drama genre has broad demographic appeal and performs strongly on streaming platforms, where audiences often seek relatable or impactful narratives.

By embedding these professional graphs into my research, I could clearly compare viewership across age, gender, and platform. For example, Statista data showed that streaming continues to dominate as the primary mode of film consumption among younger viewers, with platforms such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video ranking highest in weekly usage  This aligns directly with my own distribution plan.

The data confirms that my chosen target audience not only prefers streaming but also engages most frequently with drama content on these platforms. Reflecting on this information, the statistics strongly validate my decision to distribute my product online this  also supports my strategy, as the demographic Is highly active on digital platforms and responds positively to emotionally driven promotional material often used for drama films. Overall, using reliable industry data strengthens the credibility of my choices and ensures that my final product is tailored to actual audience behavior, which increases the possiablity that my drama film will reach and resonate with the intended viewers.

Research- Hesmondhalgh's Theory #57

Hesmondhalgh's Theory

Hello, today  I looked closely at how Sony Pictures is owned and controlled, and I linked my findings to Hesmondhalgh’s Cultural Industries theory. Sony Pictures is part of Sony Entertainment, which is owned by Sony Group Corporation, a very large global company that works in many areas such as film, television, gaming, music, and technology. Because Sony owns so many different branches, it has a lot of power over how films are made, advertised, and distributed.

This is known as vertical and horizontal integration, and it allows the company to manage many parts of the industry at once. When I studied a flow chart of Sony’s structure, I noticed that they often focus on well-known franchises, safe and familiar genres, and popular actors. According to Hesmondhalgh, big companies do this to reduce risks and make sure they make a profit. This directly shapes the visual style of Sony’s film campaigns—they usually look very professional, with clear images, strong branding, and messages that appeal to as many people as possible.

Vertical Integration: when one company controls multiple stages of the production and distribution process for a product.

Horizontal Integration: when a company expands by buying or partnering with other companies at the same stage of production.

In Conclusion thinking about this helped me understand how large companies like Sony design their campaigns to be safe, marketable, and easy for audiences to understand quickly. Even though my media product is not created by a huge conglomerate, I can still use some of the same ideas. To make my final project appealing to a wide audience, I will use familiar genre features, clear visual elements, and a consistent tone so viewers immediately know what my film is about. At the same time, I want to keep my work creative and original. This can be done  by adding unique stylistic choices, interesting imagery, or small creative details that make my product stand out.

Research-Final Credits#56

 Final Credits

Hello, Today I wanted to research film credits due to one, and only one reason every good film has smooth film credits, and because of that I want the film credits for the film my group is creating to have great final credits that set it apart from the other films being produced.

My analysis of film credits reveals a set of strict codes and conventions that balance legal requirements, professional acknowledgment, and tonal setting for the product. In opening title sequences, typography, pacing, and composition are deeply intentional for instance, a thriller might use stark, sans-serif typefaces with a slow, deliberate crawl over unsettling imagery to build tension, while a romantic comedy might employ playful, handwritten fonts that appear rhythmically with the soundtrack to establish a lighthearted mood. Conversely, end credits are more standardized for legibility and thoroughness, typically employing a simple, scrolling sans-serif font like Helvetica or Avenir to clearly list the vast number of cast and crew, with legal information (such as copyright notices, music licensing details, and corporate logos) given prominent and  placement at the very beginning or end of the scroll.

Example of  Helvetica and Avernir fonts:

Helvetica:

Avernir:

example of credits in films:

In this case I wanted to show an actual example of a film credit in this case being abouth the movie Transformers Age of Extinction although old the movie uses a Avernir Fonts which matches with one of the examples I explored

Conclusion: At the end of the day the objective is for the credits to be neat and legible but most importantly is that they flow correctly which is done by working hard on my editing skills. However if I was to choose which of the example of the two fonts I have shown it would be Helvetica because in my personal opinion it matches with the genre of Drama in my opinion and looks nicer that Avenir.

Research- distribution # 55

 Distribution methods

Streaming Services vs Film Festivals

Hello, Today I am going to compare how media types in these case to be further specific it would be film. Now a days film are distributed in streaming platforms such as Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Videos. These streaming platforms have a vast variety of film which lead to the conclusion that rely heavily on strong visual branding, using bold and eye-catching thumbnails, close-up character images, and short, punchy synopses that immediately communicate genre and tone.

Which means each thumbnail must stand out visually among dozens of competing titles. That is a way that films are distributed however is not the only way things such as film festival platforms, an example of this can be  BFI London Film Festival

Film festivals have a completely different way to distribute, I will be using the example of the BFI London film festival which its catalogue use a more curated, artistic presentation. They typically display portrait-style posters, longer synopses, director notes, and thematic descriptions. Instead of prioritizing instant appeal, festivals focus on creative identity and artistic intent. which is completely different than prioritizing the values of streaming platforms

In conclusion , I looked at screenshots of these interfaces to observe how thumbnails, synopses, and layout differ depending on the platform’s branding style. After comparing them, I believe a streaming service would be the most realistic distribution method for my product, as my film’s tone and concept suit a platform that targets wide, accessible audiences and also it facilitates things such as letting the audience of the future film known the genre or get an idea of the overall theme of the film.

Research- Postmodernism # 54

Postmodernism

Hello, today in class I learned about postmodernism and I chose the movie Napoleon (2023) because I was going through the movies of Sony Pictures, which is one of the companies I chose for my most recent case study, and due to that Napoleon was one of the movies with the genre of drama that the film my group will produce will have so it correlates in some way, In order to learn about postmodernism in film with a drama genre.

Napoleon (2023) shows many traits of postmodernism through its ironic tone, unusual storytelling, and its questioning of what is real in history. Instead of glorifying Napoleon as a brave and perfect military genius, the film breaks down his image and shows him as insecure, emotional, and sometimes even foolish. This ironic approach challenges the old idea of the Great Man who changes history through strength and greatness, replacing that image with one of weakness and human mistakes . Scott also blurs the line between truth and fiction, creating a version of history that is full of false records of facts. For example, the scene where Napoleon fires cannons at the Pyramids of Egypt — which never actually happened — shows how the movie uses exaggeration to comment on how stories of the past are often shaped

The movie’s tone shifts constantly between serious war drama and strange, sometimes dark humor, which gives it a broken or fragmented feeling typical of postmodern films. This mix of tones makes the audience question whether they are watching a tragedy, a comedy, or both at once. By focusing on Napoleon’s thoughts and emotions instead of showing an objective version of events, the film suggests that history is not just a simple record of facts, but rather something shaped by people’s points of view.  The director Ridley Scott also uses pastiche, meaning he copies the look and style of older war and historical movies. The movie looks like a grand historical epic, but at the same time, it makes fun of that very idea which is ironic. In the end, Napoleon breaks down the image of the traditional hero. His rise and fall are shown as both tragic and ridiculous, showing the viewe.rs that power, history, and identity are never fixed they are unstable ideas built from stories

In conclusion the film has some postmodernism elements to it such as irony and fragmented story telling as well as hyperreality. Those are examples of some of the traits that the movie has although it does not have a huge amount of postmodernism traits it still has some

Research - Movie #53

Movie

Hello, when My group and I met we discussed what we were trying to do we decided to or you can say my team mates decided to a film because I join later but they decided to a film and I agree with that. The film that they were going to do is about a girl who has friend who decide to kill himself, However she still talks to him Like a ghost she see as a living person.

These leads to me do research on movies that match in the plot and genre which is drama, however in the past I have all ready did research in the genre of drama in films and tv shows. Continuing with the previous statement I found different film with the theme of dead friend but the friend who passed aways was evil you can say such as :

  •   Friend Request (2016)
  • Unfriended (2014)
  • Jamie Marks Is Dead (2014)
However the movie that mostly referred to the film were are trying to make is called The Messenger(2015) In these one the protagonist can see dead people but he delivers their last wish to their love ones. Although it does not fit the overall genre at least the ghost are not evil or bad you can say.

The plot of the movie is about a troubled man named Jack, who has the unsettling ability to see and communicate with the dead. Tormented by this gift, Jack is approached by the ghost of a journalist who has recently been murdered. The spirit begs Jack to deliver a message to his grieving daughter, but Jack’s attempts to help only push him further into isolation and psychological distress. As he struggles to balance his sanity with his unwanted role as a go-between for the living and the dead, the film explores themes of grief, guilt, and redemption.

Although the plot does not really match is has something more important and that is the theme of grief the girl in the film, my group is trying to make see a the ghost of her friend due one and only one reason is her way to grief Her's friend death

Reflection:
In general although the film I watched does not go with the overall plot of what my group us trying to make it does cover something very important and that is the charters emotion especially the emotion of grief which understanding can be very important if we want the film to look realistic
